NEWS
2020 Greetings friends. This has been a year of upheaval and of adaptation for all of you and for Crosshair too. As we face these challenges there is something I wish to be clear about.
Crosshair (and I personally) commit 100% to Anti-racism. Anti-racism means fighting racist attitudes and racist structures of oppression wherever they are, including and ESPECIALLY within oneself. This is not a claim to be innocent of racism, and I do not make that claim...it is not enough nor is it honest to say "racism is bad but that's not me." Like so many white Americans, I grew up in the false comfort of that privileged delusion. I disavow it and commit myself to confronting racism wherever I find it, however uncomfortable that may be. Black Lives Matter. State Violence is State Terrorism. No asterisks, qualifications, whatabouts. If coming here for art and finding a statement regarding politics bums you out, sorry, I am not sorry.
The COVID19 pandemic has had a profound effect upon Crosshair's business. The closure of live music has meant a near-complete stoppage in the work I rely upon to sustain my business and support my family. Throughout this experience, your support and encouragement and specifically, your orders from the shop have been a lifesaver. I am deeply grateful that in these trying times, you still find it meaningful to support Crosshair and other small businesses and independent artists. I'm doing the same, as best I can. Thank you.
Obviously gallery shows and poster events including Flatstock are not happening for now. I am in the studio and working. I will have news soon on new projects and new fine art print releases, in progress. Meanwhile, yes, Crosshair is a printer for other artists' work and is currently accepting new print jobs. If you have a project in mind, get in touch, let's talk.
IDES #3 Since I first put it to paper on a poster for the band Codeine in 2012, Chicago's venerable Eight Track Bridge has been the thread that demanded to be pulled. Ides #2, released a couple of years later, presented the same subject in a different aspect. This long-brewing return shows our friend's full frozen majesty in a new light, rendered as a big 23x23" 16-color silkscreen print. AVAILABLE NOW.
NEW & UPCOMING... Crosshair's most recent crop of screenprinted posters include new posters for Wilco, Sunn0))), The Black Keys, Wilco, Monks of Doom, June of 44, Blink-182, Black Mountain and more. The big new fine art prints IDES #3 and Pressure are also in the shop, and that's where you should go for the latest up-to-the-minute releases...because it's easier to update than this old site.
